LAKEPORT — Lakeport resident James Michael Deback, 46, was sentenced Friday for the upper term of eight years in state prison for molesting a 10-year-old Lakeport boy, according to prosecutor John DeChaine of the Lake County District Attorney”s Office.
Deback pleaded no contest Nov. 2 to one felony count of committing a lewd of lascivious act with a child under the age of 14 and one misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting a minor, according to DeChaine. Deback admitted to a special allegation of “substantial sexual conduct,” according to a press release from the DA”s office.
An investigation began in March 2007 after a neighbor reported “inappropriate conduct” between Deback and the child, DeChaine said. Deback was arrested March 29. He is being held at the Lake County Jail for $100,000.
Deback will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 85 percent of his sentence. According to the release, Deback will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
