CLEARLAKE ? Second Sunday Cinema”s free film for Dec. 9 will be “No End In Sight,” a brand-new and fascinating documentary that delivers the inside scoop on the on-going occupation of Iraq. This film is compelling and filled with accurate data. Its producer-director, Charles Ferguson, has a PhD in Political Science from MIT. He taught at both MIT and UC Berkeley, he consulted with mammoth global corporations, and he worked with the White House as a consultant as well.
Ferguson has gathered inside information and very high-level friends and contacts inside both the Bush Administration and the military. It is the willingness and ability of these policy makers to share information only they could know that makes this film so important. It”s Charles Ferguson”s skills as a film-maker that make it so watchable.
The insiders he interviews include Col. Paul Hughes, director of strategic policy for the US Occupation in Iraq; General Jay Garner, administrator of ORHA in the spring of 2003; Richard Armitage, deputy secretary of state; and Richard Fallows, national editor of The Atlantic Monthly. These people were privy to the plans that were made (and ignored) and the gross errors in judgment that have led to the current mess. Col. Hughes speaks for many when he says, “There are nights when I don”t sleep very well.”
As always, this film is completely free. Our venue is the social hall of the Clearlake United Methodist Church at 14521 Pearl St in Clearlake. We open the doors at 5:30 p.m. for early seat and snack-grabbers. More information is available at 279-2957 or 9164ster@gmail.com.
