EUREKA — Danielle Bettencourt scored 20 points and Amber Shoffeitt added 13 to propel the Lower Lake Trojans to a 56-53 win over Forest Hill on Friday night in a winner”s semifinal game at the Crusader Christmas Classic in Eureka.
Lower Lake (6-3) plays tournament host St. Bernard today at noon in the championship game.
Bettencourt and Shoffeitt each had 3-pointers for the Trojans, who trailed 25-24 at halftime but had a 37-33 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Point Arena 55, Clear Lake 54
At Fort Bragg, Point Arena buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Clear Lake Cardinals in a consolation semifinal game at the Fort Bragg Tournament.
The Cardinals (3-7) play Ferndale today at 11 a.m. in the seventh-place game.
Trailing 54-52 with three seconds remaining, the Pirates inbounded the ball and immediately launched their game-winning shot, which swished through the net as the final horn sounded.
“It wasn”t the prettiest shot I”ve seen, but it went through,” Clear Lake coach Jennifer Goff said.
Clear Lake dominated the first half and led 36-18 at the intermission.
“They made the proper adjustments at halftime,” Goff said. “We were hitting 3-pointers in the first half but they came out and played us tighter in the second half and took those shots away.”
Julie Jackson”s 28 points, including six 3-pointers, powered the Cardinals. Kaila Sterbank added 11 points and two 3-pointers.
St. Elizabeth 46, Upper Lake 32
At Cloverdale, the Upper Lake Cougars lost to St. Elizabeth of Oakland in the consolation semifinals of the Cloverdale Tournament on Friday night despite 10 points and four rebounds from Rebecca Breton and nine points and five rebounds from Caity Falge.
Upper Lake plays for third place tonight at 6 p.m.
