My brother and I are concerned about the representation, or lack of, that we recently when we tried to have the City of Clearlake remove a tree that blocks our driveway and potentially can cause a number of problems, including cracking of the sidewalk and damage to water pipes as well as difficulty maneuvering around as a potential road hazard.
I wrote a letter to the City Administrator, Dale Neiman, requesting that the tree be removed. The response I got was that the tree is healthy and removal is not necessary.
As a landowner and a taxpayer, I cannot believe that my tax dollars do no good to have this situation rectified. The tree is approximately four-foot in diameter and makes it very unsafe and inconvenient to pull in and out of our driveway. I believe it has been a hindrance in the potential sale of this home as well.
We own six more lots, purchased with the plan to build more homes on them. It appears that the City of Clearlake has no interest in bringing in more revenue that building these homes would generate. This makes us feel very frustrated.
I believe the City Administrator should be concerned with public safety and show more concern towards matters that could be easily resolved. Since this is a city responsibility, the manner that we were disregarded is very disappointing.
