Since our county holds the northern California record for euthanizing the most dogs and cats, here is an idea that will save a lot of money, usually spent for care of homeless abandoned animals. It will also spare the lives of hundreds of dogs and cats, who would otherwise be euthanized.
Advertise a New Policy by Animal Control:
“The Animal Control is offering free spay/neuter and shots to all dogs and cats that families wish to adopt. A background check or home inspection will be done to be sure each family has a safe environment for each pet.”
Try this for a month and see what happens. If people don”t respond it can be cancelled. Certainly it is worth the effort, even if the Animal Control needs to get help from SPCA or former CLAWS or other animal protection groups to get this done.
