U.S. News & World Report recently named Lower Lake High School a “top school” based upon data research and analysis.
“This is because our students” achievement significantly exceeds expectations based upon demographics,” explained District Superintendent Dr. Louise Nan. “We are the only high school in Lake County to be so named.”
School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education and data research and analysis organization, examined academic and enrollment data from more than 18,000 public high schools for academic year 2005-2006. Details can be found at the magazine”s Web site, www.usnews.com/sections/education/high-schools/index.html.
Nan reported that there were 100 gold winners, 400 silver and 1,000 bronze award-winners ? the latter including Lower Lake High School ? across the United States.
Among data found online for LLHS, the school”s “Poverty-Adjusted Performance Index” was 1.03 using state proficiency standards as the benchmark.
The school also has a “Disadvantaged Students Performance Gap” of 9.7 that, according to the Web site, is the difference between a school”s disadvantaged students” proficiency rate and the state average for similarly-disadvantaged students.
