Recently the Redwood Coast Regional Center Board met with Assemblywoman Patty Berg regarding the State of California”s current fiscal situation. The North Coast is fortunate to be represented by such a compassionate listener who is willing to work with her constituents. During our discussion, Ms. Berg was honest and direct, a trait we greatly admire.
We want our community to know how much we appreciate the work of Ms. Berg on behalf of those persons we represent ? persons with developmental disabilities and their families. While Ms. Berg did not offer easy answers, her ideas were direct and fair. As a community we need to acknowledge the significant financial and program investments we have made in our state. Our discussion with Ms. Berg reminded us how we each, through our tax dollars, have contributed to the improvement of our communities for the benefit of each citizen. In the days ahead, there will be great political rancor regarding our State”s budget, including ?finger pointing” and partisanship accusations.
As the Redwood Coast Regional Center Board, we recognize that we must work together to bring about solutions. We recognize the need for both reasonable reductions and additional investment to stabilize our present and secure our future. Redwood Coast Regional Center and its Board stand ready to work with the truly ?Honorable” Assemblywoman Patty Berg.
