NICE — The Lake County Sheriff Department (LCSD) is looking for an additional person involved in a late-night drive-by shooting in Nice Saturday.
Three suspects, Roberto Garcia, 20, of Ukiah, and two female juveniles, were taken into custody after being apprehended by Mendocino County Sheriff”s deputies in Ukiah.
“We are working to confirm the identity of that person at this time and we anticipate that this work will lead to an additional arrest in this case in the very near future,” Sheriff Rodney Mitchell said Wednesday.
Deputies responding to the incident found a vehicle riddled with bullets, parked in front of a home.
Garcia is in the Lake County Jail, with bail set at $10,000, according to jail records. His charges include felonies for vandalism, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, shooting at an unoccupied vehicle and a misdemeanor charge for participating in a criminal street gang.
The trio drove a late model Lexus sedan and Garcia allegedly used a small caliber firearm in the shooting. The Lexus was spotted in the area at the time of the shooting, which was reported at 10 p.m. in the 3600 block of Lakeview Drive.
The incident came before another, unrelated shooting Monday, where three were arrested for shooting at an unoccupied vehicle in Clear Lake Oaks. That incident, according to Mitchell, is not believed to be gang related.
“Gang related drive-by shootings have been routine in many places for a long time, but we have been fortunate that they have not been common place in Lake County. All law enforcement agencies in Lake County are united to combat the growing gang problem with every resource available in hopes that this kind of story does not become the norm in our county,” Mitchell said.
