CLOVERDALE — The Clear Lake Cardinals went from jubilation to frustration to elation in the matter of about five minutes on Tuesday night before finally beating Cloverdale 58-51 in overtime in a North Central League I South junior varsity boys” basketball game at Cloverdale High School.
Clear Lake outscored Cloverdale 10-3 in the overtime period to win its league opener and improve to 13-2 overall. But there were a couple of bumps along their path to victory.

“The ball hit off the backboard, bounced off the inside part of the front rim and went in,” Clear Lake coach Chris Fisher said.
Early in the overtime period, the Eagles hit another 3-pointer to go up 51-48, but it was all Clear Lake the rest of the way as the Cardinals scored the game”s final 10 points.
“We shut them down after that,” Fisher said.
Jason Edwards converted three of his four free throws in overtime and finished with a team-best 26 points, including three 3-pointers. Ryan Grady added a 3-pointer in the extra period.
Seth Glazier finished with six points and seven rebounds for Clear Lake and Stephen Weisfield came off the bench to score eight points.
“Seth played a real solid game,” Fisher said.
