ALBANY — Clear Lake High School”s wrestling squad was among 42 teams entered in the Albany Tournament on Saturday and four Cardinals placed eighth or higher in their respective weight classes.
Tyler Hayes, Clear Lake”s standout 105-pounder, remained undefeated by winning his weight division. Erik Jameson just missed at 135 pounds, losing to a Rosemont High School (Sacramento) opponent in the finals. He is still undefeated in the North Coast Section.
Jordan Mills, competing at 121 pounds, finished sixth, and 191-pounder Daniel Gildea came in eighth.
The Cardinals host St. Helena and Upper Lake in a Coastal Mountain Conference tri-meet today, then they hit the road Saturday to compete at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa. Vacaville, the state champions in 2007, is also entered.
