LAKEPORT — Looking for a pick-me-up for the after holiday doldrums? Then mark your calendar for the 15th annual Winter Music Fest coming 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Soper-Reese Community Theatre on Main Street in Lakeport.
This annual production will showcase local talent from all over the county. Every year is different and the caliber of talent just keeps growing.
This year we have the pleasure of hearing these wonderful musicians at the newly (partially) renovated Soper-Reese Theater in downtown Lakeport. The loge seating will afford great visibility for the audience and bring back fond memories for those of us who remember it from when it was the only movie house in the county.
This year”s show will feature 14 different musical acts during the two-hour performance. The line-up, in no particular order, will include David Neft who will accompany some of the performers as well as feature some of his own ragtime selections; Bill Barrows on guitar with Connie Miller performing music from the Big Band Era; and Robert Stark on acoustic guitar.
Hope Nowak, a very talented teen, will be performing vocals. Akustica 3.5 will be returning this year after wowing the crowd last year with their upbeat Latin sound. Pat Skoog will once again liven things up with her campy performance of “These boots are made for walking.” Suna Flores will mesmerize with her beautiful vocals. Stephen Holland will perform an instrumental piece on electric guitar. Arnold and Gail will be performing vocals with guitar. Those of you who were there last year, you will remember Arnold with his deep bass voice and jaunty style.
John Zimmerman will accompany his outstanding vocals with his electric guitar. Sarah Tichava and Jill Shaul will perform vocal and folk guitar. Many will know Shaul from her many performances of our National Anthem.
Jack Sawatzki with Jim Paine will also be performing with vocals and electric guitar. Rod Levenduski will step it up with some ragtime guitar and vocals. Erika Tibbitts, with her lovely voice, will be accompanied by Vicki Jay on piano.
The duo of Austin & Owens, aka Travis Austin and Robert Owens, will once again awe the audience as their fingers fly, bringing to life their mix of acoustic classical, jazz and flamenco.
Tickets are available at the door, through the Lake County Arts Council at 263-6658 or drop by the Main Street Art Gallery on Main Street in Lakeport. Admission is $12 and all proceeds will benefit the Lake County Arts Council.
