UKIAH — Tom Gang is now pulling double duty at Mendocino College.

The Eagles football coach has been named the interim athletic director after former athletic director Gary Garabato stepped down to accept the AD job at Marin College.

“Tom Gang has proven his leadership and organizational abilities with our football program. I am very confident he will bring the same qualities to the job of interim AD,” said Meridith Randall, Mendocino College vice-president of education and student services.

Garabato steps down after 18 months at the helm of Mendocino”s athletic department.

Gang just completed a successful fifth season as head football coach, leading the Eagles to the Bay Valley Conference championship. Mendocino also won the BVC in 2005.

“It is an honor to serve this college in this capacity,” Gang said.

Mendocino will begin searching for a permanent athletic director this spring.
