SPRING VALLEY — At 6 a.m. Wednesday, Clearlake Oaks resident Jose Acevedo Rosas, 36, crashed his vehicle and sustained major non-life threatening injuries.

Rosas was driving his 1994 Ford Mustang southbound on New Long Valley Road in Spring Valley when he lost control of his vehicle due to slick roadway conditions, California Highway Patrol said.

The collision involved no other vehicles and Rosas was solo in the vehicle. After losing control, he traveled across the opposite lane and went over the east shoulder. He careened down a steep embankment and struck a tree. The collision crushed the hood, roof and windshield. “Rosas apparently lost consciousness and no one in the area witnessed the collision,” CHP Officer Adam Garcia wrote in a Thursday press release.

Rosas regained consciousness more than two hours later and was spotted climbing up the embankment near the road. He was subsequently taken to Redbud Community Hospital by the Clearlake Oaks Fire Department. Alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the collision, CHP said. Officer Erich Paarsch is investigating the incident.
