LUCERNE? An early evening fire gutted a single-wide mobile home and took the life of the dog inside of the residence.
The home at 4266 Foothill in Lucerne was a total loss, according to Jim Robbins, Fire Chief of the Northshore Fire District.
Three engines and an air unit responded to the address. Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 30 minutes, but were unable to save the residence.
“These mobiles just go up like matchboxes once they get going,” Robbins said.
The occupants of the home were not at home during the blaze, nor could they be located after the fire was put out.
An additional challenge to the firefighters was the slope of the home.
“We had to walk the hoses up the stairs, and we were unable to extinguish the fire from above,” Robbins said.
The cause of the home fire was not yet determined at press time.
