KELSEYVILLE — Kelseyville High School”s wrestling team beat Middletown 33-27 and lost to Willits 72-6 during a Coastal Mountain Conference trip-meet on Monday in Kelseyville.
Troy Davis, the Knights” standout 171-pounder, gave Kelseyville its only points against Willits with a pin.
Against a less-than-full-strength Middletown club, the Knights picked up wins at 171 pounds, where Davis won by a major decision; at 125 pounds, where Thomas Esberg won by decision; at 140 pounds, where Tony Maravilla won by decision; and at 189 pounds, where Andrew Pruett won by pin.
“Middletown also forfeited some matches,” Kelseyville coach Mike Esser said. “A couple of our guys pulled some good wins out.”
Kelseyville”s young squad is improving, according to Esser. “We”re up and growing and next year we”re going to be pretty good,” he said.
