VALLEJO — The Konocti Bay Club traveling volleyball team made it to the championship match before losing to Empire 25-19, 31-33, 15-11 during a season-opening qualifying tournament on Sunday in Vallejo.
Konocti Bay, based in Kelseyville, includes 16-and-under players from both Kelseyville and Lakeport. Konocti beat Team Forse 25-16, 25-20 and Lost Coast 25-19, 29-27 in pool play, then won two more matches in the afternoon, topping Club 29 (Middletown) 25-18, 25-17 and Club Cloverdale 27-25, 25-22.
Team members are Kelsey Sterbank, Sarah Thompson, Kura Brice, Ariel Facey, Kendra Schwegerl, Chelsea DeJohn, Sarah Johnson, Skyler Olsen, Briana Butcher, Amanda Ray, Ashley Mueller and Ty Van Housen.
