SACRAMENTO — The eighth-grade boys” basketball teams from Mountain Vista Middle School in Kelseyville and Middletown Middle School renewed their annual rivalry Wednesday at a venue slightly larger than the ones they”re accustomed to playing in.

The two Lake County clubs squared off at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, home of the NBA”s Sacramento Kings, and then stuck around to watch the Seattle Supersonics beat the Kings 105-92 later that night.

In the middle school battle, Middletown, behind a 19-9 fourth-quarter surge, beat Mountain Vista 44-35. The two team teams were tied 19-19 at halftime.

Center Nicholas Delia led the way for Middletown with 13 points, while Skyler Ramos added eight, Luke Humphrey seven and Brandon Mills six.

Wyatt Ferrell led Mountain Vista with eight, Moses Kuzu and James Green each had six, and Mark MacDonald added five.

Middletown”s Humphrey and Mountain Vista”s Oscar Lopez each hit NBA-length 3-pointers.

Kris Kem of Maloof Sports and ARCO Arena coordinated the Middletown-Mountain Vista game. A Lake County group of 100 players, parents and friends attended the junior high game.
