LOWER LAKE — The final shot at Lower Lake”s Carl Delgado Gymnasium turned out to be something special as Rissy Prude sank a 3-pointer from halfcourt to seal the Trojans” 55-48 overtime victory over the Middletown Mustangs in the North Central League I North finale for both of these varsity girls” basketball teams on Tuesday night in Lower Lake.

Lower Lake”s teams are moving to a new gym scheduled to open before the start of the 2008-09 season.

“It was an interesting way to end the last game on this floor,” Lower Lake coach Andrew Carpenter said.

The season-finale for the Trojans (1-7, 10-15) also produced their one and only league win. Danielle Bettencourt led the way with 20 points and Prude finished with 15.

Middletown”s Kayla Welton banked in an 8-footer with two seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime, where the Trojans outscored the Mustangs 11-4.

Kelsey Welton and Nikeedra Davis scored 14 points apiece for Middletown (2-6, 7-18), which will face Fort Bragg in the first round of the NCL I North postseason tournament Thursday at 8 p.m. in Kelseyville. Kayla Welton ahd 11 points.

In other girls” action Tuesday:

St. Helena 55, Clear Lake 37

At Lakeport, St. Helena handed Clear Lake its 20th loss of the season in the NCL I South finale for both teams.

The Cardinals end their season 0-8 in league and 4-20 overall.

Kaila Sterbank led Clear Lake with 14 points and Kelsie Kennedy added 11.

Cloverdale 54, Upper Lake 23

At Upper Lake, Cloverdale wrapped up its NCL I South schedule at 8-0 with an easy win over the Upper Lake Cougars (2-6, 7-15).

Rebecca Rush led Upper Lake with eight points.

Boys” basketball

St. Vincent 65, Kelseyville 47

At Kelseyville, the Kelseyville Knights ended their season with a loss to the St. Vincent Mustangs in NCL I interlock play.

Isaac McQueen scored 20 points in his final outing for the Knights (1-7, 11-4). Peter Wotherspoon added seven points.

McQueen and Sal Martinez are the only two seniors on the Kelseyville roster.

“My seniors did a great job,” Kelseyville coach Scott Conrad said. “They played hard right down to the end.”

St. Helena 55, Clear Lake 35

At St. Helena, the Clear Lake Cardinals had a miserable shooting night and closed out the regular season with a lopsided loss to the St. Helena Saints in NCL I South action.

Zane Butler”s 10 points paced Clear Lake (3-5, 12-12) and Rawley Butler added nine.

Cloverdale 89, Upper Lake 32

At Cloverdale, NCL I South champion Cloverdale capped a perfect league season ? 8-0 ? at the expense of the 0-8 Upper Lake Cougars, who lost for the 20th straight time to finish the season at 3-22.

Kyle Coleman scored 16 points and Cory Gonzales had nine for Upper Lake.
