Wal-Mart has applied for a premise to premise, person to person transfer to sell beer and wine at its Clearlake location. The Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) public notice of application was posted on Jan. 31.

Kevin Loscotoff, Wal-Mart senior manager of Public Affairs, reported, “Where it is permitted by law, we apply for a liquor license and work to provide our customers with the selection of products they expect to find in our stores.”

According to the application: “If a verified protest is to be made against this application, it must be received by any office of the department or departmental headquarters, 3927 Lennane Drive, Suite 100, Sacramento 95834, within 30 days of date posted. Protests must be verified. Further information regarding this application and verification forms may be obtained at ABC, 50 D Street, Suite 130, Santa Rosa, CA 95404, 576-2165.”

According to local store manager Will Bacon, Clearlake Wal-Mart expects to be selling wine and beer beginning March 8.
