NEWARK — Emily Knispel of Upper Lake won her final four matches to claim third place in the 126-pound division on Saturday at the North Coast Section Girls” Wrestling Championships in Newark.
Knispel won an outbracket match in her NCS opener, pinning Bianca Bisson of Petaluma in the first round. In her next match, Knispel lost to the eventual 126-pound champion, Tiffany Villareal of San Leandro, who won on a third-round pin.
Bounced into the consolation bracket, Knispel reeled off four straight victories. She pinned Jonni Machado of Petaluma in the second round; pinned Annie Fite of Castro Valley only 41 seconds into the first round; and beat Laura Choate of Newark Memorial by 4-2 decision to reach the third-place match.
In the battle for third, Knispel squared off with Petaluma”s Bisson again and the result was nearly the same, Knispel pinning Bisson in the second round.
