Should Kelseyville ?honor” other groups?
I have a few simple solutions to the Kelseyville High School mascot name problem.
One, all them the Kelseyville “Native Americans”, instead of “Indians.” It”s more accurate, so who can complain?
Two, change the ethnic group entirely. Heck, one writer pointed out that Native Americans aren”t even from India. Another patriotic writer pointed out that the “Washington Redskins” are allowed in NFL football, so maybe the Kelseyville “Brownskins” could be used, or even “Whiteskins”, since there are more of all of them at Kelseyville High School these days. There”s other colorful nicknames to choose from for those groups too.
Three, there are other ethnic groups might be chosen to be honored, such as the Kelseyville “Hebrews” or “China-people”. Or any of a couple dozen other ethnic minorities who helped build this great country of ours after the European-Americans wiped out the “savage” Native Americans, who the good people of Kelseyville now seek to pridefully honor by naming a sports mascot after them.
