LAKEPORT — The beautiful new Soper Reese Community Theatre is ready to host its first theater production since the five-year renovation was completed! The 1950s theater is glistening and ready for the public! How fitting it is that “Solid Gold Cadillac” will reflect the time period of the grand old theater in its heyday.
The story line and costumes for Lakeport Community Theater”s “Solid Gold Cadillac” will be from the 1950s but the theme of corporate greed vs. the little guy (or little old woman in this case) is as current as today”s newspaper headlines. This lovable comedy pits the whole boardroom of a huge corporation against the likes of one fiesty “Mrs. Partridge,” a small stock holder and retired actress played by Joan Holman. Yes, that Joan Holman!
Holman has starred in many of local theater”s most endearing plays, classics like “On Golden Pond,” “Driving Miss Daisy” and “Gin Game.”
If you know Holman, you know that she is definitely fiesty and she is most certainly a fine actress. The only part of the character that she plays that doesn”t match the real Holman is that Holman is definitely not retired!
Holman”s supporting cast is equally talented, although maybe not as lovable. The joy of this comedy will be cheering for Joan while getting a kick out of her adversaries.
This wonderful theater experience will begin with a champagne gala from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., for all opening night attendees on March 7. The play will begin at 8 p.m.
“Solid Gold Cadillac” will run at 8 p.m. March 7,8,14 and 15 and 2 p.m. March 9 and 16 at the Soper Reese Community Theatre in Lakeport.
