LAKEPORT — Lance McCloud went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Bryan Edwards went 2-for-4 with a RBI as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the Middletown Mustangs 11-5 in a non-league junior varsity baseball game at Lakeport.

It was the season opener for both teams.

Winning pitcher Ryan Richardson worked the first three innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. He struck out two and walked five.

Dylan Pastor went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a stolen base to lead Middletown (1-1). Ryan Johnson doubled and Daniel Sallee and Connor Chick also had hits.

Clear Lake is home today to play John Swett of Crockett at noon. The varsity teams square off at 2 p.m.
