I am writing to express my frustration over the front page article, Teacher Charged with DUI, in the Record Bee on Wednesday, March 12.
There is no dispute that someone driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol should off the roads. While not minimizing the severity of the offense or underestimating the potential severity of the consequences of the actions of this individual, I am appalled at the coverage this has received.
Yes, this individual used poor judgment when he opted to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. Yes, our local educators need to set a good example for the children of Lake County, but let”s get real. Front page and above-the-fold news? Was it a slow news day or just a sign of the small town provincial press?
