Association worth $84 a year to some

In two recent letters Gary Champagne has accused the Clear Lake Riviera Community Association of selling the golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts and marina. If Mr. Champagne is as interested in the community as he professes to be , he would know that is a falsehood.

The above properties were owned by the Clear Lake Riviera Yacht and Golf Club, whose members were local residents. The membership dwindled in recent years, and the club was no longer viable, in debt, and had to be sold.

In the grand scheme of things, all Boards make mistakes. Fining lot owners for not clearing lots is not one of them. Uncleared lots next to developed properties are a fire hazard of enormous proportions. If you believe that we are immune from what has happened in Southern California , you are a prime candidate for the Ostrich Society.

If the Clear Lake Riviera Community Association doesn”t do anything other than force recalcitrant lot owners to be “good neighbors” it”s well worth $84 a year to me.

It should be worth it to you.
