LAKEPORT — Jared Ashworth and Ryan Richardson knocked in two runs apiece in the first game and Brandon Disney pitched two innings for the win in the second game as the Clear Lake Cardinals swept a non-league junior varsity baseball doubleheader from Esparto, winning 12-1 and 12-2 on Saturday in Lakeport.
In the first game, Ryan Grady struck out six in four innings while registering the win. Disney pitched the final inning, striking out one.
Ashworth, Richardson, Bryan Edwards, Tanner Mansell, Tyler Beets and Jason Edwards all had hits for the Cardinals.
In game two, Disney struck out four in two innings and was followed to the mound by relievers Richardson and Jason Edwards.
Jesse Philips went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Cardinals (5-0) at the plate.
“Our pitchers did a real good job in both games, striking out 17 and walking only four,” Clear Lake coach Chuck Mansell said.
