I want to join with the chorus of voices who have written to object to the Record Bee”s practice of plastering the name and picture of a teacher accused of DUI on the front page. Although not yet convicted of anything, they are subjected to unnecessary embarrassment and humiliation.

If they are later acquitted, it is doubtful that there will be any mention of it in the Record-Bee and certainly, we won”t see a banner headline. In the case of the teacher whose picture recently appeared on page one, the article made a point of mentioning that this individual was a teacher, but not that they have a long and distinguished career of service to students, colleagues and the community. This kind of sensationalism is simply bad journalism and it hurts students, the community and education in general.
