Apparently Jim Wilson didn”t read any of the letters he was disagreeing with in his March 21 letter. Not one of them said that teachers or anyone else should not be held accountable for driving under the influence. The letters to the Record Bee that I read on that subject (and there were at least six) said that there was no need to put a teacher”s name and photo across the front page of your newspaper, especially since it had not even been determined if they were guilty.
Most people accused of traffic violations are not front page news and teachers should be no exception. It is not unusual for these kinds of charges to be dropped or reduced or for someone to be acquitted at trial. By then the damage caused by sensationalizing it on the front page of the local newspaper is already done.
