FORT BRAGG — Bryan Edwards pitched a solid game but came away with a loss as the Clear Lake High School junior varsity baseball team dropped its first contest of the season, a 2-1 North Central League I interlock setback to the Fort Bragg Timberwolves on Thursday in Fort Bragg.

Clear Lake (6-1) had just two hits, singles by Ryan Richardson and Jesse Phillips. Jaime Lopez drove in the Cardinals” lone run.

Edwards scattered five hits and struck out five in going the distance.

“Players from both sides played smart baseball the entire game,” Clear Lake coach Chuck Mansell said. “It was fun to be a part of.”
