FORESTVILLE — The Lower Lake Trojans continue to struggle at the plate and the end result was a 9-0 loss to the Arcata Huskies on Tuesday in a consolation-bracket game at the El Molino Tournament for varsity baseball teams at Forestville.
Lower Lake has managed just three hits through its first two tournament games, both shutout losses.
“We”re not hitting and that”s a problem,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said.
Singles by Steve Miller and Angel Macias were all the Trojans (2-5) could manage against Arcata, which banged out 14 hits and led 8-0 after two innings.
“They”re a good team, well-coached and they hit the heck out of the ball,” Emberson said of the Huskies.
Losing pitcher Jonathan Haws settled down after allowing four runs in each of the first two innings. He limited Arcata to just one run over the final four innings.
The game was called after six innings because of an eight-run tournament rule.
The Trojans play their final game today at 10:45 a.m. against an opponent to be determined.
