ATASCADERO — The Kelseyville High School golf team”s annual two-day spring break trek to Central California wrapped up on Tuesday with finishes of 12th and 23rd place at the 21st annual King of the Mountain Tournament at Chalk Mountain Golf Course in Atascadero.

“We still have a ways to go, but I”m pleased with how things are going,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of his squad, which is a mix of veterans returning from last year”s undefeated Coastal Mountain Conference South championship team (Bridges, Schaefer and Perez), and new starters (Blackburn and Drake).

“This was a good experience for our younger players to see the good players and teams that are out there,” Berry said.

Bridges had the day”s low round for Kelseyville with 81, followed by Schaefer with 84 and Perez with 94.

Overall individual honors went to Jason Peters of Atascadero and Colt Hoff of Nipomo with 72. Peters won the sudden-death playoff. Nipomo won the team title with 227, six shots better than host Atascadero”s 233.
