People often exercise for health or stress relief, but at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 29, the Hidden Valley Lake Milers running club is giving people the opportunity to run for donuts.
This is the first of the Hidden Valley Lake Milers Spring Race series and runners, joggers and walkers of all speeds (and donut preferences) are welcome!
Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Hardester”s Shopping Center at 19849 Hartman Road. The run and walk will start promptly at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to the first five males and females ages 19 and younger to cross the finish line and the first five males and females ages 20 and older. The entry fee for this event is $5 for non-club members and $3 for Milers.
The 5K (3.1-mile) course is mostly flat, follows Hartmann Road to Hidden Valley Road then circles the “Spyglass loop” and then back to the start. The Milers are planning the second race of the series on April 19 at the same Hardester”s Shopping Center.
The Spring Race series will culminate with the grand daddy of events: the sixth annual “Spring Has Sprung” run scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at the Hidden Valley Lake “Big Beach” location.
This year the Spring has Sprung Run will have a whole new feel, with a challenging 5K Run featuring varied terrain and scenic views, a less-challenging 2.1 mile walk and run and a children”s 1K (0.6 mile) run and relay races.
The Spring Has Sprung run is sponsored by many local businesses and is a full-feature event with a professional timing company, music, refreshments and custom award medals for the 5K and event T-shirts given to all participants.
