GREATER KELSEYVILLE — Classical pianist Tsien Hsieh made her last appearance in Lake County five years ago, and left a memorable impression on the music lovers who crowded into Huston Hall at Guenoc Winery to see and hear her. Since then she has gone on to win international acclaim for her musical artistry. One reviewer described her as delivering “electrifying performances of music of monumentally heroic difficulty.”

Tsien Hsieh”s return concert will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Galilee Lutheran Church, which is located on Soda Bay Road just south of the Konoti Harbor resort.

In coming back to Lake County the diminutive artist will return to CLPA”s Yamaha grand piano, now at Galilee Lutheran Church. She promises a program of classical favorites, having developed a vast repertoire including the music of Beethoven, Liszt, Messiaen, Schumann and dozens of others.

During her last appearance then-CLPA president John Ross said Lake County “has the chance to see a star on the way to super-stardom,” which proved to be accurate. Since then she has appeared in concerts across the nation as well as in Europe and Asia.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan into a musical family ? her mother, Sylvia was a noted pianist and teacher ? she emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 9 eventually receiving a BA of music from the University of Houston school of music, followed by her Master”s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She made her orchestral debut in 1993 with the Houston Civic Symphony and her New York debut in 1996 at Carnegie Hall.

“Local residents who heard her during her first concert here will undoubtedly be lined up for the next one,” said CLPA President Paul Brewer, “and those who missed it will now have the chance to get acquainted with one of the most stunning performers to visit our county in years.”

Admission to the concert is $15 for CLPA members and $20 for the general public, with youths under 18 admitted free. Persons interested in joining CLPA prior to the concert are urged to call membership chair Ed Bublitz at 277-8172.
