LAKE COUNTY — Campaign fund raising is in full-swing for two county supervisor races that will go before voters in the June 3, 2008 Primary Election. District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington will keep the seat for another four years.

With the passing of the March 7 candidate filing deadline, the candidates are set for the primary election in Districts 1 and 5. The first 2008 deadline to file campaign financial reports passed Tuesday. Records of campaign contributions and spending are available to the public at the Registrar of Voters office, pursuant to California law.

“There is one more statement due before the primary,” Fridley said. The second pre-election campaign statement for the reporting period of March 18 through May 17 is due May 22. “Most of the activity is going to be reported in that statement. It”s right before election,” Fridley said.

District 1 Supervisor Ed Robey announced in August 2007 that he will retire after fulfilling his third consecutive term. Six candidates stepped up to fill his position, including James Comstock, Don Dornbush, Scott Fergusson, Susanne La Faver, Joey Luiz and Robert MacIntyre.

La Faver leads the group in the current reporting period, which covers Jan. 1 through March 17, 2008. La Faver”s campaign contributions total $2,037 for the period. Fergusson follows closely with $1,970 raised, followed by Comstock with $1,292 and McIntyre with $620. Dornbush and Luiz each made $1,000 loans to their respective campaigns.

In District 5, incumbent Rob Brown faces challenger Robert Stark. Brown leads his opponent with $2,438 raised this year. Stark”s report shows $1,100 raised this year for his campaign.

District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington raised more than $13,000 by September 2007. His current report shows no campaign activity.

“There were factions in the community that were beating the bushes to find someone to run against me. I thought in this race, I would have been opposed,” Farrington said. ” I hope I can interpret that as people believing that I”m doing the best I can for our community, and that I”m making decisions that will positively impact our community. I know that not everyone is going to agree with every decision I make, but hopefully they understand that I”m making an informed decision and that I try to weigh both sides of every issue when I”m making those decisions.”

Farrington said he will make a further statement about his goals for the next four years in the near future.
