What does home association do of value?

I am replying to Mr. Jim Hayes letter (Record-Bee, March 18) regarding a point he made that he would be more than happy to pay our Riviera Association $84.00 a year just to have them force recalcitrant lot owners to be “Good Neighbors”.

I believe Mr. Hayes is refering to weed abatement. The Riviera Association has missed many lots in this regard. A quick drive through the Riviera”s will verify that. Mr. Hayes you can save $84.00 a year by simply calling 279-4268. It is the Kelseyville Fire Department. Talk to Mr. Brian Burnham, the weed abatement officer and he will do what our Association does.

His letter still does not explain why our security patrol was stopped without asking the homeowners if they wanted it to continue. The Association officers did not ask if the homeowners would be willing to raise our yearly dues to continue the patrol. They just stopped it!

What did the Association do to save the Golf course and Yacht club, etc.? Did they try to buy it to save these great additions to our community? We have an Association that does it”s work without input from the homeowners it supposedly represents. That”s intolerable in my opinion.

There was a marina park? What did the Association do once again if it did anything to save it? My memory is not what it used to be but I don”t remember seeing any information on that regard either.

Now there is talk about assessing us to repave our crumbling streets. Aren”t we already taxed for just that purpose? What does our Association do of value?
