The Clearlake Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Monday night, March 31.
The CPD reported that at approximately 9:52 p.m. Monday, Officer Mike Hansen was on patrol in the area of 40th Avenue and Moss when he spotted a vehicle pull out of a private driveway. He continued watching as the vehicle came to a stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection where the driver got out of the vehicle and ran to the front passenger side.
Officer Hansen then saw the driver trying to lift a person”s leg back into the vehicle while trying to lift something (or someone) in the front seat. At the same time, Clearlake Dispatch put out the report of shots fired from the same area moments prior to Hansen”s arrival.
Hansen began driving toward the vehicle as the driver got back into the driver”s seat and sped off. The vehicle ran the red light at the intersection of State Route 53 and Lakeshore Drive while turning south onto the highway. Hansen caught up to the vehicle, which pulled to the side of the road.
During the stop, Hansen located a 38-year-old gunshot victim slumped down on the front passenger floorboard of the vehicle. The victim had been shot multiple times in the upper body and had to be flown to Santa Rosa due to the nature of his injuries.
An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of 32-year-old Noah Parker for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The CPD served a search warrant at his residence on 40th Avenue where evidence of the crime, including several spent shell casings, were located. Parker was later transported to the Lake County jail and housed.
This case is still under investigation and the CPD asks that anyone with additional information should contact Detective Sgt. Tom Clements at 994-8251.
