LAKEPORT — Jackie Farley, instructor at the Buddhist school in Ukiah will be offering two Saturday classes to students in the elementary grades through high school that are interested in the Arts at the Main Street Gallery located at 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport. The first class will be Saturday, April 5, with the morning session running from 9:30 to noon where students will have the opportunity to learn folk dances from Greece, Hawaii and Romania.

From 12:45 to 4:30 p.m., students will learn the basics of drawing that will include tonal values, line, contour and gesture. Visual aids and music from these countries will be provided for inspiration.

The second class is from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, when students will learn dances from Mexico, Ghana and the U.S. At the afternoon session, basic color theory will be the core of the class and students will be able to create art inspired by the images and music of these countries. An art show and performance will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12.

Dance sessions are offered at $15. Art sessions, which include all materials, are $20. Both sessions are for $30. All four sessions are $50. To register for these classes or for more information, please call the Main Street Gallery at 263-1871.
