Red”s Construction Mariners” Jake Peters hit the first homerun of the season in Southshore Little League Majors division action last week. Peters brought in three runs, which contributed to the Mariners” 11-1 victory over Cecil”s Take & Bake Pizza Mets. Peters also contributed from the mound with eight strikeouts, while teammate Tony Fonseca closed the game with three strikeouts of his own.
The Mariners saw two more victories in the first week of little league action, beating Salmina”s Floor to Ceiling Rangers 8-7 and Dr. Eagle”s Animal Hospital Giants, 16-2.
The Giants had better luck against the Rangers, posting a 10-6 victory. VJ Lopez hit an out-of-the-park homerun for the Giants to tie the score at 3-3 in a bout against the Mets. Since rules dictate that a game cannot end in a tie, the teams will continue the game on April 11.
Zef and Johnny Roofener combined on the mound for no walks and 12 strikeouts for the Rangers, leading to a 9-6 victory over the Mets.
In Junior division action Paradise Pizza White Sox enjoyed a couple victories. The White Sox posted a 24-13 victory over Ray”s Food Place Angels and a 10-6 victory over Mendo Mill A”s. The White Sox dropped a decision to the Westshore Cubs, 16-5.
Kelseyville teams were on fire with the Kelseyville Yankees taking home a 13-1 win over the A”s and the Kelseyville Red Sox taking a 22-4 victory over the Angels.
The game that pitted the Mendo Mill A”s against the Westshore A”s is reportedly under protest.
