LAKEPORT — Louisa May Alcott wrote the beloved story, “Little Women,” more than 100 years ago and in August, Lakeport Community Players and Lake County Repertory Theater will bring the classic to life in The Soper Reese Community Theatre!
Set during the civil war, the story revolves around four teenage young women as they deal with love and independence, tragedy and joy and …each other! This play watches with humor and understanding as each girl fights to become a woman…in 1863!
The pageantry of this play, its lovely sets and floor-length dresses will transport the audiences of the Soper-Reese to another era. It will be memorable.
“Little Women” will require four talented young women, seven equally talented women of undetermined age, three brilliant young men (16 to 30ish), three awesome mature men (30ish to 60ish), not to mention six outstanding children (6 to 12). Rehearsals will begin April 28 and will be held at least two nights a week at the Kelseville Methodist Church all during the summer. Are you with me so far?
Auditions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 21, in The Kelseyville Methodist Church on Main Street in Kelseyville (across from the Saw Shop). Clear Lake High School students are invited to audition at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Room 101 at the high school.
