LOWER LAKE — Cooper Farrer opened the game with a home run to left field, part of a six-run top of the first inning that propelled the San Rafael Bulldogs past the Lower Lake Trojans 11-0 in a non-league varsity baseball game Wednesday in Lower Lake.
The contest was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Farrer”s home run was one of two on the day by the Bulldogs, who also got one from Adam Pickus (2-for-3, three RBIs).
“Definitely a tough team,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said. “They hit the crap out of the ball. From one to nine, they have kids who can hit it.”
San Rafael staff ace Erik Kriessmann limited the Trojans (3-9) to a pair of hits, singles by Angel Macias and Steve Miller.
Losing pitcher Jonathan Haws worked four-plus innings, allowing all 11 San Rafael runs. He struck out two and walked two.
Lower Lake”s task doesn”t get any easier Friday when the Trojans visit Petaluma to play St. Vincent at 4 p.m. Lower Lake returns home next Wednesday to take on Healdsburg at 4 p.m., the team”s final tune-up prior to the start of league play.
