Was a previous HOA board ineffective, too?
Tony Gniadek”s letter (Record-Bee, April 4) questioning the legitimacy of Alan Siegal”s and Sid Donnel”s presence on the Clearlake Riviera Homeowners Association Board of Directors makes a valid point, however coming from Mr. Gniadek it would seem to be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
I like Tony personally, he”s a fun guy to have a beer with, but during his tenure as president of the homeowners association, he suffered from the same blindness to the provisions of the corporation”s bylaws that afflicts Alan Siegal, though Tony”s case was perhaps not as severe.
It was on Gniadek”s watch that our security patrol was discontinued and its truck sold. When the membership complained loudly, an expensive private security firm was hired which ate up what surplus funds the association had within a few months. In a move of questionable legality, he arranged the sale of vacant land owned by the association.
This land had originally been set aside for future community parkland. It sold at a fraction of its real value and many have questioned whether the bidding process was legal or equitable. If I recall correctly that money went mostly to the private security firm too. Now we have no parkland and no security patrol.
