CLEARLAKE — The Lake County Community Co-Op and the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce are partnering in a farmers” market for the City of Clearlake.
Co-op members voted by a show of hands during the Saturday, April 12, meeting to select a night of the week. The majority preference was for Friday.
On Thursday, April 10, chamber Executive Director Lori Peters presented a proposal to the Clearlake City Council to hold a weekly farmers” market for farmers, vendors, artists, musicians and purveyors of food.
The proposal as envisioned would make use of Austin Resort next to Austin Park on Lakeshore Drive. The land is owned by the City of Clearlake Redevelopment Agency.
“They granted us the items we asked for, but the resort property is without water and electricity,” Peters reported, adding that the city is offering the co-op use of Redbud Park as a possible market site.
The farmers” market would operate weekly from June to October. The co-op and chamber would provide volunteer staffing. Vendors would be responsible for their own pavilions and cleanup.
Austin Resort property would be put to use until such time as it became unavailable.
