UKIAH — A summerlike weekend gave way to a windy Monday for the 18 teams competing in the Ukiah Invitational on Monday at the par-70 Ukiah Municipal Golf Course.
“It was a three-club wind and it brutalized everyone,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said. “Every now and then you see a 67 win this thing, so that”s a testament to how tough it was here today,” Berry added of the day”s low round, a 2-over-par 72 shared by Jacob Ruonavaara of Windsor and Alex Johnson of Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa).
Cardinal Newman won the team title with 384, host Ukiah was four shots back at 388, and Livermore High School came in third with 398. Kelseyville was seventh with 408 and Middletown, which had an incomplete team (fewer than five golfers), was 18th.
Nick Schaefer”s 80 led Kelseyville, Jonathan Bridges had 84, Tyler Drake 85 and Hipolito Perez 86. For Middletown, Doug Quinones led the way with 78 and Blaine Ruggio had 86. Perez and Quinones each had three birdies and Bridges had two.
