UPDATED:

Louise Nan, Ed.D is resigning as Konocti superintendent effective June 30, 2008.

“I”ll be closer to my family,” Nan said, explaining that she has been selected as superintendent of the Ripon Unified School District in San Joaquin County. “You only live once and I have only one grandchild.”

A unanimous vote by the Ripon board of trustees approved Nan”s selection as its new superintendent. Board President Larry Stewart said that its consultants, Rudy and Janet Gatti, brought 28 candidates that the board eliminated down to six with Dr. Nan among them. The board interviewed the six candidates and referred three finalists for interviews by an advisory committee made up of Ripon community members.

“There was a battery of questions,” Stewart said. “I”m glad I didn”t have to go through it.”

Superintendent finalists were interviewed a second time and the board made its decision. Stewart said the board voted unanimously to select Dr. Nan.

“We”re very excited about the opportunity to work with Dr. Nan,” Stewart said. “After selecting her we went to Lake County and met with people in the community. We probably spoke with over 30 people. She is really loved in that community by a lot of people ? everyone we talked to is very disappointed that she is leaving.”

Nan”s resignation comes before the Konocti school board at its Wednesday, April 16, regular meeting.

The meeting will be called to order at 6:15 p.m. in the Carol McClung Conference Center at the Konocti district office, 9430 Lake St. in Lower Lake.
