LAKEPORT — Gary D. Dickson was named as the new publisher of the Lake County Record-Bee, according to Steve Smith, vice president of community newspapers for the California Newspapers Partnership, and Dickson started his duties Monday.

In addition to the Lake County Record-Bee, Dickson, 56, will oversee the Clear Lake Observer-American, the Penny Slaver and the Willits News.

“After a short hiatus as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, I am happy to be back in the media business, which I”ve been a part of for over 30 years,” Dickson said.

“I look forward to my work at the paper, and being active in the community,” he said.

Dickson, a native of Wichita, Kansas began his career in circulation in the 1970s, and held positions in Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana.

A well-traveled veteran of the industry, Dickson was previously publisher of the Crowley (Louisiana) Post-Signal, Carlsbad (New Mexico) Current-Argus, Los Alamos (New Mexico) Monitor, and two stints leading the Telluride (Colorado) Daily Planet.
