CLEARLAKE — Lake County Community Co-Op continues accepting memberships of $24 a year or $2 a month.

“We have close to $600 in our account and 31 members,” said treasurer Patrick Kenna at the Saturday, April 12, meeting.

A price sheet is posted online for the co-op buying club at http://lakecountycommunityco-op.wikispaces.com/. According to William Thaete, who is on the Buying Club subcommittee, the buying club is almost set up except for a drop-point for orders. “We must have a building with refrigeration,” he said.

Thaete added that buying club orders, which will be placed through a variety of vendors, will be marked up 2 percent above wholesale. Orders will be payable upon pickup.

A survey has been posted at the co-op”s Wiki site, http://lakecountycommunityco-op.wikispaces.com/. It concerns shopping and spending habits as well as preferences and priorities when respondents shop for food. The survey also asks where respondents want to see a co-op located.

According to Business subcommittee member David Goolsbeed, survey results may be available by the co-op”s next meeting on Saturday, May 10.

The April meeting also included an update about a local community garden. “This is the kick off,” said Community Gardens subcommittee member Shannon Tolson. “I”m excited about the potential. I”m starting to do some research and am looking for a co-coordinator.”
