LUCERNE — A couple charged with felony counts for allegedly stealing money from the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center turned themselves in to the Lake County Jail Friday morning after arrest warrants were issued by the District Attorney”s office.
Rowland James Mosser, 63, and his wife, Jayne Sleeper Mosser, 60, of Lucerne were booked into jail shortly before 10 a.m.
Mosser was hired by the senior center as Executive Director in 2002. He resigned three years later. The investigation by the Lake County Sheriff”s Department began after individuals affiliated with the center alleged Mosser stole money from the center. The DA launched a full investigation, taking over the case more than a year ago.
Mosser has been charged with four felony counts: embezzlement, grand theft by an employee, grand theft and keeping a false record of government funds. Jayne Mosser has been charged of grand theft, a single felony count. His court date is set for April 22, her court date is June 13. They are being held in the Lake County Jail with bail set at $10,000 each.
