GEYSERVILLE — The Kelseyville Knights capped a perfect Coastal Mountain Conference season in impressive fashion on Monday, beating the Geyserville Bronchos 5-0 at Geyserville.

Kelseyville improved to 8-0 in the CMC standings by winning all five matches in straight sets. In fact, the Knights lost a grand total of two games in the 10 sets played.

“Outstanding,” Kelsey-ville coach Jeff McLaren said in summing up the effort put forth by his squad in 2008. “I don”t think we could have played any better. Everyone stayed mentally tough, everyone kept their grades up, everyone came to practice, there were no problems.”

Kelseyville went 9-1 overall in 2008, splitting a pair of non-conference matches with Rincon Valley Christian.

“I really did shuffle my lineup almost every match,” McLaren said in praising his deep and talented roster. “We didn”t use the same lineup that many times.”

In their CMC finale against Geyserville, Florian Kelder rolled past Matt Yanez 6-0, 6-0 in first singles; Stuart Davy beat David Haldey 6-0, 6-1 in second singles; Luke Kriken blanked Kayla Singley 6-0, 6-0 in third singles; Jon Don Kincannon and Evan Carpenter shut out Joe Bensin and Luke Gevas 6-0, 6-0 in first doubles; and David Ferrario and David Koeppel beat Morgan Chiantella and Jennifer Reyes 6-0, 6-1 in second doubles.

The Knights return to action Thursday in the opening rounds of the CMC Championships at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa. Divisions include boys” and girls” singles and boys” and girls” doubles. The tournament wraps up on Friday with quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
