LAKEPORT — St. Vincent built a 9-0 lead after three innings and beat the Clear Lake Cardinals 11-7 in a North Central League I South varsity baseball game on a soggy Tuesday in Lakeport.
“We didn”t go quietly, but we also didn”t play very well,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said. “To be down 9-0, it”s tough to come back from.”
St. Vincent improved to 2-1 in the NCL I South standings while Clear Lake fell to 0-2 and 12-5 overall.
Clear Lake starting pitcher Mike Zimmerman didn”t survive the third inning, lasting just 2 1/3.
“Zimmerman had a sore ankle,” Larrea said. “He said it was OK but it wasn”t.”
Nick Jordan went 2-for-4 with a RBI for Clear Lake and Alan Moses went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
