The City of Clearlake has completed a final Environmental Impact Report for the Provinsalia Golf Community. Copies are available for review at the City of Clearlake Planning Department, 14050 Olympic Drive in Clearlake.

“The next step is for the staff to develop recommendations on the General Plan Amendment, Rezone, Specific Plan and to negotiate a development agreement,” stated Nathalie Antus with the City of Clearlake Planning Department. “This process may take up to eight months.”

The Clearlake City Council and City of Clearlake Planning Commission held a special joint workshop to discuss the project, 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in City Council Chambers. Notification of the meeting was released Thursday, April 17, too late to be publicized in the Clear Lake Observer*American.

Lake County Resort Partners LLC proposes build 600 single-family and 120 attached homes on 292.2 acres of land in the southeast corner of Clearlake, east of Dam Road and north of Cache Creek.

The Provinsalia Golf Community would include a nine-hole public golf course and clubhouse that would occupy 80 acres. An additional 77.2 acres would be devoted to passive open space.

The property is presently zoned “Resource Protection and Environment.” Lake County Resort Partners LLC is requesting a General Plan amendment to change designation of the site to “Specific Plan” with an accompanying rezone of the property.

A draft EIR was circulated for review in September and October 2007. The final EIR incorporates city staff response to issues raised by members of the community.

Antus noted that the final EIR cannot be sent electronically due to the document”s size. Copies of the EIR can be burned to disk at City Hall for a price of $3 to cover the cost of disk and copying.

Members of the public can also request that a copy be mailed to them using a “Request for Public Records” form.
